We’ve just pushed live a pretty big change to web resumes.
The first change that you’ll notice right away is a completely new look and feel. Resumes are about putting your best foot forward, and we thought we could clean it up some. These pretty new things should also be better optimized for search engines, meaning more employers coming your way.
We’ve also added a new “tab” to your web site titled “Profile.” This profile is account wide and is used to help better match candidates to qualified job listings. It also gives you a chance to present yourself on a personal level. Include links to your portfolio, pictures or LinkedIn account. Answer common interview questions and fill out an “About Me” section. The cool thing is, everything is completely optional. The more you answer, the more things that will show up. It’s pretty flexible.
This material is derived from countless conversations with employers and recruiters to get a feel for the common “pre-qualifying” questions that they ask job seekers. The more you’re able to answer their questions before they contact you, the more likely you’ll have a beneficial, to the point conversation. After all, that’s what we want. Our mission is to improve your job hunt
How to create an online profile: After signing in to Emurse, visit the “Profile” area of the Home tab. Answer questions, move to the next section by using the left hand navigation. Save your profile using the “Save Profile” button. Some information is given out on your Emurse web site, while some of it is used to better our relevant jobs engine. This feature is beta, so any feedback you might have is extremely appreciated :).
Updated: One of our users just pointed out that some of the hResume implementations on the premium templates are a little off now. We’ve added the issue to our list and will try to get it resolved soon. Pardon our dust, we’ve got a lot going on in developer land
Thanks!

Thank you VERY much for this service!
I did resumes for my Aunt and my Dad, and let me say, it was MUCH easier than doing it in Microsoft Word, in which adjusting one small thing would send the text into TOTAL CHAOS!!
Here, its so simple and SO appealing (I’m a web guy, so I really appreciate the layout and all of the little fade in and popup scripts you’ve put in; VERY helpful and very cool!
Now my dad can FINALLY update his resume without messing it up!!
Thanks emurse dudes/gals/AMAZING PEOPLE!

One of the most important, yet often overlooked, aspects of resume sending is the cover letter (or these days, the e-mail). The cover letter is your chance to make your first impression. A properly written letter should grab the employer’s attention and help set the stage for a personal interview.
Here are simple instructions and a few tips and suggestions for writing a quality cover letter.

Introducing Jobs.Emurse.com
We’ve had really positive feedback from our “Relevant Jobs” feature on Emurse, and a lot of folks have asked us over the last couple of months for a way to full out search the job list that we use (currently in partnership with Indeed).
Our last group of beta users tried out a job sub-tab for a bit. Once the round was finished, we looked at all the feedback and decided we needed to take it a step further. We went ahead and created a full on search engine. It’s incredibly simple, no frills, and darn effective.. Just the way we like it
So, if you’re looking for a PHP job, or a Ruby job, or a Nursing job, or a job as an Accountant… You get the point — Check it out, and add it to your bookmark list

Think of your resume as an advertisement. It is what will bring the customer in the store. Once they have arrived, it is time to sell them the goods. You have scored an interview, and now it is time to prepare.
Here are some suggestions for preparing for an upcoming interview.

Alex:
To add to the testimonial, it should be noted that the job I landed started at $10K more than I was making in my previous position. Much of the influence for getting the job was being so “savvy” as to have an electronic resume the potential employer could view, download or print by clicking a link from my portfolio web site.
I’ll definitely spread the word!

One of the reasons we created Emurse was to help people get over the intimidation of creating resumes. How do you sum up your professional life on a single piece of paper? The thought of it can be frightening, if not even nauseating.
It should not be that way and we would like to help. Here are a handful of really simple, straightforward guidelines you can use to help improve your Emurse resume.

Couple of small things.. Joey S. e-mailed us a request this week for E-mail confirmations when using the Send feature. This was implemented this evening. Basically, when you send an e-mail using Emurse, we’ll send you an e-mail copy of the message along with the attachment sent. This will help improve your record keeping as well as give you a bit of peace of mind. Thanks for the feedback Joe!
We also have completed the roll out of Locations in resume view notifications. If you are a premium user and have notifications turned on for your Web Page, the notification will now include an approximate location of the person viewing your resume. We had a few users request this, and we’re excited about the added functionality!
Enjoy

Emurse has helped me hone my resume by encouraging me to use relevant language not only for resumes, but for search engine optimization. My resume on Emurse gets a lot of search engine traffic that is regularly converted into cold calls and emails regarding my talent and services. If you don’t put your resume on Emurse, you’re missing out on more opportunities than you can imagine.
